Advance Magazine For five years (2003-2008), Bill Shepson functioned as editorial director of Advance magazine, a family friendly, faith-based publication that set a new standard in the faith-based genre. Bill oversaw the creation and launching of the magazine, which boasted a subscription base of approximately 30,000 across the United States, with some distribution worldwide. In each year of its publishing history, Advance won numerous awards for innovative design and informative feature articles that educated and challenged readers and were relevant to everyday issues in everyday life. One of Advance's proudest achievements was garnering an award for excellence in reporting for its 2007 cover story on human trafficking—an article in which survivors of human trafficking were profiled and examples given for practical ways individuals can help to put a stop to the scourge of modern-day slavery.
